Joel A. Block MD

Joel A. Block, MD, is the Willard L. Wood, MD, Professor of Rheumatology and Chief of the Division of Rheumatology at Rush Medical College, Chicago, IL. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the OA Research Society International, and he is Editor in Chief of Osteoarthritis & Cartilage. He has served on numerous grant review panels for the NIH, US Department of Defense, and various overseas governmental funding agencies. His research interests are focused on the therapeutics of OA and on the role of aberrant biomechanical loading in lower extremity OA. He leads a multidisciplinary group that studies the disease from a broad perspective, including joint tissue biology, the physiology of pain, and mechanical mediators of osteoarthritis progression.
