Consultant Physician, National Women’s Heath, Auckland City Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand

Dr. Rowan is a recently retired clinician and Team Leader of the Maternity Diabetes Service at National Women’s Health. She has an ongoing role with teaching, mentoring and research.

Dr. Rowan was the principal investigator for the Metformin in Gestational Diabetes Trial (MiG) and the follow-up studies of the offspring up to 9 years (MiG TOFU). Her research interests include examining the role of HbA1c in early pregnancy to diagnose underlying hyperglycaemia in pregnancy and the threshold for diagnosis GDM in New Zealand.

Dr. Rowan has published approximately 50 publications relating to diabetes in pregnancy, most related to research interests above.
