She serves as the Associate Chair (Research) for the Department of Internal Medicine. She is a Clinical Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University, and has won several awards from residents and fellows for clinical teaching and mentorship. She is the Vice Chair of the Kidney Council of the American Heart Association (AHA). She led the first AHA Scientific Statement on Cardio-Renal Syndrome (2019) as well as the AHA Scientific Statement on Cardiorenal Benefits of the Novel Antidiabetic Agents in CKD (2020). She is the lead editor of the Textbook of Cardio-nephrology (Springer 2018) and the Textbook of Kidney Disease in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Springer 2020). Janani Rangaswami completed medical school from the MGR Medical University, Chennai, India where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class with several awards of distinction. She then went on to complete her residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia and a fellowship in Nephrology at Weill Cornell Medical Center, NY. She has spoken and presented work at several national and international specialty meetings in the cardio-renal space.
