Jami Kinnucan, MD, is an inflammatory bowel disease specialist and Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. She most recently transitioned from her role as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Michigan Medicine, University of Michigan. She has been recognized as a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and serves on the Women in GI Committee and serves on the Board of Governors (Michigan). She is active in the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and currently is the Co-Chair for the Women in IBD Task Force and member of the Government and Industry Affairs Committee for the National Scientific Advisory Committee. She is currently acting Co-Chair and Founder of the Michigan Gastrointestinal Society. She has a specialist in both patient and provider education. She was Director of IBD Education at the University of Michigan and served as the Associate Program Director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship prior to her transition. She has won numerous teaching awards including the Fellows Best IBD Educator Award for 3 years in a row. In 2019 she was recognized as Healio Rising Disruptor Innovator Award and 2018 Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Western Michigan Medical Honoree.

Dr. Kinnucan is nationally known in the field of gastroenterology, in particular her specialization in evaluation and management of patients with IBD. She is known to the Twitter world as @ibdgijami and uses the platform to raise awareness and improve education related to gastroenterology, IBD and promotion of women in medicine and GI. She is lead author and co-author of articles in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, she has written several book chapters about IBD diagnostics and treatments. Her most recent focus has been to evaluate the role for cannabis in the treatment of IBD related symptoms.
