H. Eustis Reily Professor of Urology and Gynecology; Chairman, Department of Urology, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans, LouisianaA native of New Orleans, Dr. Winters earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. He completed his urology residency in the combined LSU / Ochsner program. He then completed a fellowship in female urology and voiding dysfunction at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. He returned to LSU, was Program Director of the Ochsner / LSU Urology Residency Program in 2005 – 2013. He was recognized by the AUA as Teacher of the Year in 2009 for these efforts.
He is currently the H. Eustis Reily Professor of Urology and Gynecology and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also serves as urology director of the LSU Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship. He is Board Certified in Urology, and was appointed as a Trustee to the American Board of Urology in 2011.
Dr Winters is President of the Society of Urodynamics and Female Urology, a Councilor of the Society of University Urologists and a member of: the American Urologic Association, the Southeastern Section of the AUA, the International Continence Society, the American Urogynecologic Society, the American College of Surgeons, the International Urogynecologic Association and the Louisiana State Urologic Society, where he served as President. He was a member of the American Urologic Association Stress Urinary Incontinence Guidelines Panel, and served as Panel Chair of the AUA Urodynamics Guidelines Panel and as a panelist in the AUA-ABOG Stress Urinary Incontinence Outcomes Measures Panel.
Dr Winters served as Associate Editor of Neurourology and Urodynamics and is on the editorial board of the Journal of the Louisiana State Medical Society. He reviews for nearly every major journal in the subspecialty of voiding dysfunction and has published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and text chapters.
