Dr. Ishrat Ahmed is currently a third-year ophthalmology resident at the Wilmer Eye Institute. She obtained her undergraduate education at the Johns Hopkins University where she graduated with a BS/MS in cellular and molecular biology. She continued her training through the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her early research interests in altered signaling pathways in neurodegenerative diseases have led her to pursue an academic career in vitreoretinal diseases.
