Preventive Medicine Resident Physician, Department of Family, Population and Preventive Medicine, Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, New YorkIrina Arkhipova-Jenkins, MD, MBA, is a PGY–2 resident in the General Preventive Medicine and Public Health program at Stony Brook Medicine. Prior to joining the Stony Brook program she trained in internal medicine at Oregon Health and Sciences University and spent three years at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Effective Health Care Program assisting professional medical societies in developing evidence review topics for clinical practice guidelines and producing systematic reviews on interventions to improve retention in opioid use disorder treatment commissioned by the HHS and antibody mediated immunity following SARS-CoV-2 infection for the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Arkhipova-Jenkins’ clinical and research interests include obesity medicine, population health approaches to chronic disease management, health disparities, and digital technologies of healthcare delivery. As a preventive medicine physician-in-training, she is actively involved in research and clinical initiatives, including the study of long-term cardiovascular outcomes among patients with obesity in the Veterans Health Administration, and helping design a virtual obesity medicine education curriculum for the Stony Brook Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center patients.
