Dr. Howard Brodyis the John P. McGovern Centennial Chair in Family Medicine and Director of the Institute for the Medical Humanities at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Hereceived his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing and subsequently earned a PhD in philosophy from Michigan State.

He completed his residency in the Department of Family Practice at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
