Henk van der Poel, MD, PhD, is head of the department of Urology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam with focus on prostate cancer management. He is editor-in-chief of the Netherlands Journal of Urology and has (co)authored more than 350 peer-reviewed publications in the field of urology and conducted several prospective clinical trials on improvements of surgical techniques in prostate cancer management. He was a board member of the Dutch Association of Urology for 12 years, and since 2014, he has been a member of the EAU Prostate Cancer Guidelines Panel. He actively participates as a mentor in surgical and theoretical training in urology on national and international levels as a board member of the European School of Urology.
