Developed the first long lasting use of echocardiography, trained many of the world’s early pioneers in echocardiography, introduced the field of cardiac sonography, held the first meeting on cardiovascular ultrasound, wrote the first textbook on echocardiography, founded the American Society of Echocardiography and was the founding editor of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.
