Blanton Presidential Distinguished Chair for the Study of Neurological Disease at Houston Methodist Neurological Institute and Professor of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Texas A&M College of Medicine. He is a medical graduate from the National University of Colombia and a neurologist from the Salpêtrière Hospital, University of Paris, France, and the University of Vermont. Dr. Román was Interim Chairman of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas; Chief of Neuroepidemiology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he was awarded the Commendation Medal of the US Department of Health and Human Services; and, tenured Professor of Neurology, Internal Medicine (Geriatrics) and Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Texas in San Antonio. He is Doctor Honoris Causa of his Alma Mater and Honorary Member of several neurological societies. Currently, Prof. Román is Editor-in-Chief of Cerebral Circulation – Cognition and Behavior.
