Glenn R. Cunningham MD

Dr. Cunningham currently is Professor of Medicine and Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Medical School, and completed his internship, residency and fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty certification in endocrinology and metabolism. He served as Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development at the Houston VA Medical Center from 1988 to 2003 and as Chief of Endocrinology and Director of the Endocrinology training program at Baylor from 1990 to 1999. He served as Vice Chairman for Research, Department of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine from 1998 to 2004. Currently, he is a member of the St. Luke’s-Baylor Diabetes Program.

Dr. Cunningham has been active in several specialty medical societies, including the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American Society of Andrology. He held many committee posts and chairmanships with the American Society of Andrology before becoming its President in 1994.

Dr. Cunningham’s clinical research interests include male hypogonadism, androgen replacement, benign prostatic hyperplasia, erectile dysfunction, prevention of diabetic complications by intensive glucose control and in-hospital management of diabetes/hyperglycemia. He has published over 160 papers and chapters on these topics.
