Gillian Jacobsen BSMD/PhD Student, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida
Gillian Jacobsen received her bachelor’s degree in Microbial Biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2015. During her time at Berkeley, she took pre-med courses and researched environmental microbiology, both of which shaped her passion for studying the human microbiome. After graduating, she returned to her hometown of Los Angeles. She worked there for three years in both biotechnology and academia before joining the Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD program) at the University of Miami. She joined the Abreu Lab in 2020 after completing her first two years of medical school. Her research now focuses on the microbiome and immunopathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
