Dr. George Somlo is Professor of Medical Oncology and Therapeutics Research at City of Hope National Medical Center (COHNMC) in Duarte, California, where he is a member of the Department of Hematology and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation. Dr. Somlo received his medical degree from the University of Semmelweis in Budapest, Hungary. He completed a research fellowship in virus vaccine control at the National Institute of Public Health in Budapest. After an internship in head and neck oncology at the National Institute of Oncology in Budapest, Dr. Somlo did internship and residency training in the Department of Internal Medicine at Long Beach VA Medical Center/University of California, in Irvine, California. He completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Therapeutics Research and Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at COHNMC.

Dr. Somlo’s primary clinical and translational research interests include identifying molecular targets and profiles responsible for resistance in breast cancer.
