George F. and Sandy G. Valassis Professor and Chair of Urology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MichiganDr. Palapattu is the George F. and Sandy G. Valassis Professor and Chair of Urology at the University of Michigan. Prior to this appointment, he served as Chief of the Division of Urologic Oncology in the Department of Urology at U-M since 2012.
Dr. Palapattu attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in Humanities and then Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he earned his medical degree. Subsequently, Dr. Palapattu completed his surgical internship, urologic training and chief residency in urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA followed by a laboratory research fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital/Brady Urological Institute.
Dr. Palapattu’s clinical interest is in the evaluation and management of men with prostate and kidney cancer. As a surgeon-scientist, he currently maintains a translational lab focusing on understanding, profiling and targeting molecular drivers of aggressive disease. Dr. Palapattu is currently PI of the Michigan Prostate SPORE (multi-PI) as well as an NCI T32 in Urologic Oncology and an NCI RO1.
