
Evangelos Giannitsis MD

After gaining his medical degree from the University of Homberg Medical School, Prof. Giannitsis completed postgraduate training in internal medicine and cardiology at Lübeck University Hospital, Germany. Subsequently, he undertook a PhD in internal medicine before assuming his current position in 2002.
Prof. Giannitsis’s research interests focus on cardiac biomarkers and their validation in the diagnosis of coronary syndromes, and he has been the Principal Investigator in many clinical trials in these fields. He is a member of numerous professional societies including the European Society of Cardiology, and he sits on the German Society of Cardiology guideline committee for the management of acute coronary syndromes.
Prof. Giannitsis is a member of the editorial board of the European Heart Journal: Cardiovascular Pharmacology and is a Guest Editor of Diagnosis, and he has published more than 300 articles in international peer-reviewed journals as well as 20 book chapters.
