Eric A. Gehrie, M.D. is a board certified clinical pathologist with subspecialty board certification in transfusion medicine. He is an Assistant Professor of Pathology with a joint appointment in Surgery at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He is medical director of the blood bank and is the associate director of the pathology residency program at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Gehrie’s clinical and research interests are focused on the safety and efficacy of blood transfusion, particularly for patients with difficult crossmatches or who require massive transfusion. He is an investigator on clinical trials for pathogen reduced (psoralen or riboflavin treated) platelets.
