Emily M Altman MD, FAAD

Before joining Summit Medical Group, Dr. Altman was Medical Director and Founder of Advanced Skin Wisdom at Comprehensive Dermatology and Laser Center, LLC, in Livingston, New Jersey. She was Chief in the Division of Dermatology at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark from 2000-2010, and a faculty member for New York University Medical Center Department of Dermatology. 

Dr. Altman is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatopathology, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, Women's Dermatologic Society, and International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease, among others. She is the coauthor of articles on a range of topics in dermatology, which are published in JAMA Dermatology, JAAD, Annals of Allergy, American Journal of the Diseases of Children, and Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, to name a few. She is a reviewer for JAMA Dermatology, American Journal of Clinical Dermatology and Indian Journal of Dermatology and Venereology.

Dr. Altman has been featured in the New Jersey Monthly "New Jersey's Top Doctors" listings. She is the Web and Social Media Associate Editor for Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Altman also has earned the HealthTap Founding Expert Award, HealthTap Winter Top Doctor Award - Newark Area, HealthTap Top New Jersey Dermatologist Award, Top Doctor Competition Thought Leader in the Newark Region Honorable Mention, HealthTap Most Influential Doctor in the Morristown Region, and HealthTap Top Doctor in the Morristown Region. In addition to writing for the Summit Medical Group website and HealthTap, Dr. Altman is the author of a dermatology blog called Rash Decisions that is published on WebMD / Medscape.
