Emile R. Mohler III, MD
Dr. Mohler is Director of Vascular Medicine for the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and Professor of Medicine for the Perleman School of Medicine University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia. He has been teaching and mentoring medical students for more than 20 years. A physician specializing in cardiology and vascular medicine, Dr Mohler practices at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Currently a member of the Cardiovascular Institute, the Institute for Human Gene Therapy and the Institute for Medicine and Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr Mohler is also an active member several academic and scientific, committees including the American Board of Internal Medicine Cardiovascular Committee. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Vascular Medicine, the American Heart Association, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia and the American College of Physicians. He has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, about a wide range of topics related to his clinical and research interests, including diagnosis and management of peripheral artery disease, vascular imaging and the management of cardiovascular risk factors. The current focus of his research team is the impact of exercise on circulating stem cells and microparticles.
Dr Mohler has published over 250 manuscripts and is an editor of seven books. He is an ad hoc reviewer for many prestigious peer-reviewed journals; edits the vascular medicine section of UpToDate, and serves on the editorial boards for Endovascular Today, Thrombosis Research and Vascular Medicine. He has been awarded multiple government and industry grants and holds a patent for a noninvasive device that measures limb oxygenation and blood flow. Cytovas, a Penn Upstart Biotechnical Company was co-founded by Dr. Mohler. He received his MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Medical center. Dr Mohler was awarded a cardiovascular fellowship from Indiana University Medical Center.
