Dr. Apostolidou currently holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor with Baylor College of Medicine and Micheal E. Debakey VA Medical Center. She graduated from the University of Athens Medical School and completed a PhD with her thesis involving the role of angiogenesis in the evolution of myelodysplastic syndromes. She completed residency at the University of Pennsylvania and a hematology/oncology fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has several years of clinical experience in the field of hematology with her clinical practice spanning the whole spectrum of malignant and non-malignant blood disorders. She has previously served as Medical Director of the Hematology Service at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. She has research experience in early phase clinical trials and has served as a Principal Investigator of studies referring to thrombophilia, sickle cell disease and hematologic malignancies, especially acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Her work has resulted in the publication of 46 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and 26 presentations in national and international meetings. She has also been actively involved in medical student and trainee education and have served as a Site Program Director for the MD Anderson Hematology/Oncology fellowship for the Lyndon B. Johnson hospital.
