Dr. Havranek is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and the Director of the Department of Medicine at Denver Health, the safety net healthcare system for the city of Denver. With support from NHLBI, AHRQ, and the American Heart Association, his current research focuses on health disparities based on race/ethnicity – particularly the effects of bias and stereotyping – and on redesign of healthcare delivery to improve quality and reduce cost. He has a particular interest in the implementation of financially efficient programs to improve health in socioeconomically disadvantaged populations.
