Dr. Slade earned his MD/JD from Southern Illinois University, with a focus on health law and health policy. He is an assistant professor of infectious disease at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. Slade is co-chair of the Trinity Health infection prevention and control COVID-19 action committee, served on the Trinity Health COVID-19 Screening Technology Steering Team, serves as a member of the Loyola infection control and prevention committee, and is a member of the Loyola and Hines VA antibiotic stewardship committees. Dr. Slade practices general infectious disease with a focus on HIV care, and is the medical director of the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) program.

Dr. Slade is local site principal investigator, Passive Immunity Trial for Our Nation to Treat COVID-19 in hospitalized patients clinical trial, examining the safety and efficacy of convalescent donor plasma to treat COVID-19 in hospitalized adults in a randomized, placebo-controlled setting.
