
David D. Lee MD
Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplantation; Surgical Director for Liver Transplantation, Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IllinoisDr. David Lee currently serves as an associate professor and surgical director for liver transplantation at Loyola University Medical Center, in Maywood, IL. Prior to joining Loyola, Dr. Lee was an assistant professor and surgical consultant at the Mayo Clinic in Florida from 2013-2019. During his time at Mayo Clinic, he developed a research interest in the management of primary liver cancers and the role for liver transplantation. His other research interests include the maximal utilization of marginal liver grafts in liver transplantation.
He began his medical school training at the University of Michigan Medical School and was a surgical resident at Rush University Medical Center/Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL from 2003-2010. During his surgical residency, he completed a 2-year American Society of Transplant Surgeons sponsored research fellowship with Anita Chong, PhD at the University of Chicago studying islet cell transplantation. His abdominal transplant fellowship was completed at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Prior to joining the Mayo Clinic in Florida, he served as an assistant professor of surgery at the Hume-Lee Transplant center in Richmond, VA at Virginia Commonwealth University.
