Fellow, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TennesseeDr. Claudio Roberto Tombazzi was born in Valencia, Venezuela, but raised and schooled in Tennessee since age seven by two wonderful parents who coincidentally were foreign-graduated Gastroenterologists. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology. Subsequently, Dr. Tombazzi was privileged to obtain his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with his father (Claudio Ruben Tombazzi) as faculty, which prompted an interest in Gastroenterology.
Dr. Tombazzi was honored to receive Internal Medicine training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and developed an interest in Hepatology and Palliative Medicine. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at VUMC and is currently completing his Gastroenterology fellowship prior to starting a Transplant Hepatology fellowship this coming academic year. He hopes to study and explore the ways that palliative medicine can be integrated into end-stage liver disease management.
