Claudio Barbiellini Amidei MDMedical Doctor, Epidemiological Department, Veneto Region, Italy
From early in his medical education, Claudio Barbiellini Amidei, MD, has been interested in epidemiological studies on noncommunicable diseases. As a medical student, he also had the opportunity to practice a more clinical approach during his internships in Italy, as well as in France and Spain, in endocrinology and pathology departments.
During his specialization in public health at the University of Padua, Italy, Dr. Amidei had the opportunity to collaborate with expert epidemiologists at the University of San Francisco, USA, and at the INSERM and at the Université de Paris, France, to further refine his epidemiological knowledge. Among noncommunicable diseases, he has focused particularly on diabetes in association with relevant health outcomes, including cognitive decline, cardiovascular diseases and death.
Currently, Dr. Amidei is working at the Epidemiological Department of Veneto Region. His work involves conducting studies to examine associations between specific modifiable and nonmodifiable exposures and relevant health outcomes, with the aim to support the promotion of targeted public health interventions.
