Bruce Neal is Professor of Medicine at UNSW Sydney, Executive Director of The George Institute Australia and Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at Imperial College London.  Bruce has broad-based clinical and public health research expertise with a strong focus on the translation of research findings into enhanced care and better policies. He has particular experience in the fields of high blood pressure and diabetes and has played lead roles in multiple large-scale clinical trials.  He also has a longstanding interest in the environmental determinants of chronic disease and the potential for changes in the food supply to deliver large, cost-effective and equitable health gains.  He has recently completed the largest ever trial of salt reduction using a potassium-enriched salt, with results that should change the way everyone prepares and seasons food.  He launched the popular FoodSwitch smartphone application to empower healthier consumer food choices, and his food policy work seeks to change the way that food is manufactured, retailed and consumed using business and policy levers.
