Barbara S. Koppel
I am currently Chief of Neurology at Metropolitan Hospital, in East Harlem, NYC, which is one of the municipal hospitals in the Health and Hospitals Corporation. I am Professor of Clinical Neurology at New York Medical College. After receiving a BA in Linguistics and General Science at University of Rochester, I attended Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, where I also received my neurology training at the Neurological Institute. My research interests reflect the patients I care for, including seizures related to alcohol and cocaine use, neurologic complications of HIV, and other interesting conditions seen in a poor, mostly immigrant population.
