Bamidele Tayo PhD
Professor of Public Health Sciences, Department of Public Health Sciences, Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, Loyola University Chicago, Maywood, IllinoisDr. Bamidele Tayo is a Genetic Epidemiologist and Statistical Geneticist. He holds a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Full Professor at the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health at Loyola University Chicago. His academic qualifications include BSc in Human Nutrition and Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics from the University of Ibadan; MSc in Statistical Genetics from the University of Pavia; and PhD in Epidemiology and Community Health from the University at Buffalo.
Dr. Tayo’s research activities include candidate and genome-wide association studies of human traits and diseases including hypertension, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and sickle cell disease in populations of African descent. Dr. Tayo is a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and professional member of the American Society of Human Genetics, The International Genetic Epidemiology Society, New York Academy of Sciences, and International Biometric Society. He is actively involved in training and mentoring of biomedical researchers in West Africa, especially Nigeria and Ghana as part of research capacity building and enhancement through NIH/FIC funded training program.
