Augustin Attwell MD
Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Aurora, Colorado; Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy, Denver Health Medical Center, Denver, ColoradoDr. Augustin (“Gus”) Attwell studied French and Spanish at Rice University and then received his M.D. at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and subsequent GI fellowship at the University of Colorado (UC) Medical Center. He then spent one year training in advanced endoscopy (ERCP) under Dr. Peter Cotton at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was on the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical School for 3 years prior to joining UC in 2010. From 2010 to 2011 he trained in endoscopic ultrasound at the UC. He is associate professor of Medicine at UC and director of advanced endoscopy at Denver Health Medical Center. Since 2019 he has served as director of the advanced endoscopy fellowship at CU. His clinical and research interests include the endoscopic management of gallstones and chronic calcific pancreatitis, particularly in the indigent population. His hobbies include travel, marathon training (with his dogs), swimming, skiing, golf, and squash.
