Aoife M. Egan MD, PhD

Dr. Aoife Egan, MB BCh, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Consultant Endocrinologist at Mayo Clinic Rochester. She completed her degree in Medicine and PhD in Diabetes and Pregnancy at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Following Internal Medicine Residency and Endocrinology Fellowship in Ireland, Dr Egan moved to Mayo Clinic when she completed a further three-year Endocrinology fellowship. She joined faculty at Mayo Clinic in 2020. Her clinical practice focuses on management of nutritional disorders and diabetes mellitus, with a special interest in diabetes and obesity before, during and after pregnancy. She also holds a position as a Women’s Health Research Scholar at Mayo Clinic, and her research focuses on determining the mechanisms of diabetes development in women during and after pregnancy.
