Antonios Douros MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Pharmacoepidemiology, Institute of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Berlin, GermanyDr. Antonios Douros received his medical and doctorate degrees and was trained in Clinical Pharmacology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Pharmacoepidemiology and worked as an Assistant Professor at McGill University. Since 2023, he is an Associate Professor at the Charité Institute of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology.
Dr. Douros studies the real-world effectiveness and safety of medications in vulnerable populations, including patients with liver disease, older adults, as well as patients subjected to polypharmacy and at risk of drug-drug interactions. For his studies, he uses large electronic healthcare databases from Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. He has (co-)authored >70 peer-reviewed publications including several in high-impact journals. His research is supported by awards and grants from the German Research Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé.
