Ann Schwartz, PhD, is Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at University of California San Francisco. She is an internationally recognized expert on the epidemiology of fractures, osteoporosis and falls in older adults with diabetes.

She has published on the increased risk of fractures and falls in type 2 diabetes and the limitations of standard tools to assess fracture risk in this population. Her research has investigated factors affecting skeletal health in older adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including the influence of glycemic control, advanced glycation end products and microvascular complications.
