Professor of Medicine and Director of Interventional Endoscopy, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VirginiaDr. Andrew Wang is a Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Virginia (UVA), and he is Director of Interventional Endoscopy at the UVA Medical Center. Dr. Wang is a graduate of the UVA School of Medicine and completed his medicine residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and his GI fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He was trained in interventional endoscopy at UVA and has also received specialized training and certification in advanced endoscopic imaging and ESD. Dr. Wang's clinical and research focuses include ERCP (training, safety, advanced techniques, and endobiliary ablative therapies), interventional EUS, the diagnosis of premalignant luminal GI conditions, endoscopic resection techniques (EMR, underwater EMR, and ESD), and the use of POEM to treat patients with achalasia. Dr. Wang has given more than 100 presentations in the U.S. and internationally, and he has co-authored over 94 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Dr. Wang is a Fellow of the AGA, ACG, and ASGE, and he is currently President of the Virginia Gastroenterological Society (VGS).
