Andrea A. Anderson MD, FAAFP
Assistant Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, Associate Chief, Division of Family Medicine, The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Washington, DCAndrea A. Anderson, MD, FAAFP, is the Associate Chief of the Division of Family Medicine at the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences (GW) and the co-director the Health Policy Scholarly Concentration. Nationally, Dr. Anderson is the Chair of the DC Board of Medicine, a member of the National Board of Directors of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), the Management Committee of the USMLE of the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), the national Ethics and Professionalism Committee of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), and the national Academic Family Medicine Advocacy Committee (AFMAC). This year she was appointed to the DC Scientific Advisory Committee working to determine a safe and equitable distribution plan for COVID 19 vaccination for DC residents. She has testified extensively both on a federal and local level on health policy matters and was the recipient of the 2019 Advocate Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. Her scholarship interests include teaching professionalism, health policy, and physician advocacy to medical students and residents.
Dr. Anderson received her BA and MD from the Program in Liberal Medical Education at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. She completed her Family Medicine Training and Chief Resident/Academic Medicine Fellowship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
