After receiving her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, Dr. Flischel was granted a full deferment for internship and residency. She completed her Dermatology residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University, where she served as Chief Resident. After residency, Dr. Flischel was called back to active duty and became the assistant program director of the Navy Dermatology residency program in San Diego, CA, where she held the position for three years. Following this she pursued a section chief position at the Captain James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center in Great Lakes, IL. She has remained an active duty Dermatologist the FHCC where she serves active duty service members, retirees, veterans and dependents.

Dr. Flischel is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a recent member of the Chicago Dermatological Society. She holds and affiliation as an assistant professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and is a clinical instructor of Dermatology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.
