Professor Emeritus, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel

Dr. Gilhar is currently Professor (emeritus) at Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, where he has been leading this institution's internationally renowned Skin Research Laboratory since 1986.  He also served as dermatology consultant in several hospitals in north of Israel. Currently he serves as a director of the hair restoration clinic, Rambam Health Care Campus and as a dermatologist in a dermatology public service. Dr. Gilhar is a member of the Research Advisory Council of the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF), USA.  He is Editorial Board Member of Experimental Dermatology, and has served on the National Committee for Approval of Pharmaceutical Products for Israel and on the National Committee for Investigating Medical Aesthetics.

Dr. Gilhar's research covers a broad spectrum of investigative dermatology, with emphasis on immunodermatology (focus: alopecia areata, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis) and hair loss disorders. In these areas, he focuses on uncovering novel fundamental pathomechanisms that invite therapeutic targeting and on the development of clinically relevant, novel humanized mice models. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers (H-index: 35), and is frequently invited as speaker, session chair, and/or organizer at/of international dermatology and skin research conferences.  His work has received recognition by the EM Farber Research Award for Excellence in Research, Society for Investigative Dermatology.
