Ali Ahmed MD, MPH
Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology; Associate Director, Comprehensive Center for Healthy Aging; Director, Geriatric Heart Failure Clinic, University of Alabama, Birmingham, AlabamaAli Ahmed, MD, MPH is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics with secondary appointments in the Division of Cardiology in the School of Medicine, and in the Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Birmingham, Alabama. He is also a staff physician in the section of Geriatrics at the Birmingham VA Medical Center (BVAMC).
Dr. Ahmed’s clinical and research focus is chronic heart failure and multimorbidity in older adults. He is the founding medical director of the Geriatric Heart Failure Clinics at UAB and BVAMC and is listed in the Best Doctors of America, and the Castle Connolly and U.S. News Top Doctor in Geriatric Medicine. He is an associate director of the UAB Comprehensive Center for Healthy Aging where he directs its Multimorbidity and Heart Failure Program. As a recipient of K23 and R01 research awards from the National Institutes of Health, he has presented and published extensively on these topics.
Dr. Ahmed is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and the Gerontological Society of America, and a member of the Heart Failure Society of America and the European Heart Failure Association. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Gerontology, Medical Sciences and a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Cardiac Failure.
