He specializes in obesity and diabetes mellitus and has published and lectured extensively in these subjects, especially regarding the neurohormonal mechanisms regulating hunger and satiety and their modulation through bariatric surgery and other interventions.
He is International Fellow of the SCOPE Obesity Certification Program organized by the World Obesity Federation and member of the Executive Committee of the recently founded Metabolic Surgery Study Group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).
