Prof. Alain Kaelin-Lang MD, PhD
Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Università della Svizzera Italiana, and Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland EOC, Lugano, SwitzerlandAlain Kaelin-Lang obtained his medical degree and a PhD degree in neurosciences at the Faculty of Medicine of Berne and specialized in neurology at the University Hospitals of Zurich and Berne, Switzerland. From 1999 to 2001, he accomplished a fellowship in movement disorder and neurophysiological research at the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke, in Bethesda, Maryland. He achieved the Venia Legendi (PD) at the University of Bern in 2004 and the title of Associate Professor in 2012. In 2004 he founded the Movement Disorders Center at the Neurology Department of the Insel Hospital in Berne and was the head of this Center until 2013 with a strong activity in the field of movement disorders, “deep brain stimulation” and botulinum toxin treatment. In 2017 he was a founding member of the SMDS (Swiss Movement Disorders Society) and was its first President. Since 2014 he is the medical and scientific director of the Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland in Lugano and full professor at the University of Southern Switzerland.
