Dr. Adriana M Knopfelmacher is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. She received her Medical Doctor degree at the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion in Paraguay in 2009. She did her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY from July 2012 to June 2016. She did a fellowship in Surgical Pathology at East Carolina University from July 2016 to June 2017. Following that, she did a 1 year fellowship In Transfusion Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and started as Assistant Professor in Transfusion Medicine in 11/2018 at the same institution. Since fellowship, Dr. Knopfelmacher has been closely involved in teaching residents and fellows Transfusion Medicine. She has led the development of an online education module on Transfusion Reactions for nurses, fellows and faculty at her institution. In addition, she is currently working on re-structuring a formal curriculum in Transfusion Medicine for rotating fellows.
