Gilles Montalescot, MD, PhD, is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Paris VI, and Director of the Cardiac Care Unit at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, France. He is a practicing interventional cardiologist with extensive experience in basic and clinical research. He is the Director of the INSERM UMRS 937 research unit on thrombosis and Chairman of the ACTION study group, an academic research organization based at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital.

Dr Montalescot received his medical degree from H. Mondor Hospital, Paris XII, and underwent fellowship training at the F. Widal Hospital, Paris VII, and Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston.
