Andrew’s clinical specialty is medical retina with major research interests in age-related macular degeneration, central serous chorio-retinopathy and inherited retinal diseases. Currently he is Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He has been awarded the Nettleship Award for Research by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and was listed in the Times as one of the United Kingdom’s top 100 doctors. He was editor in chief of Eye for 10 years. He and his team have performed over 75 clinical trials and published over 200 papers in high impact journals including Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, the Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine. He has served two times as an NIHR Senior Investigator and raised grant funding totalling over £15 million.
