Thomas M. Habermann M.D. is a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Associate Dean at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.

He attended Creighton University for his undergraduate degree and earned his medical degree at Creighton University.  He completed Internal Medicine training at Mayo Clinic.  He completed a Hematology fellowship at Mayo Clinic and subsequently joined the faculty in 1985 at Mayo Clinic Rochester.

Dr. Habermann has dedicated a career to clinical research.  He was Chair of the Mayo Clinic Lymphoma Group for 14 years.  He was the principal investigator of the Mayo Clinic ECOG Mayo U-10 Grant since 1993-2014, a co-investigator on the University of Iowa/Mayo Clinic Lymphoma SPORE Grant serving as the Co-Director of the Clinical Trials Core.  He has been involved in 17 drugs in clinical trials that include five drugs before their FDA approved indications.  He has been involved in collaborations with James Cerhan, M.D., PhD in clinical epidemiology, SNP analyses, and a collaborator on whole exome studies with Margaret Shipp, M.D. at the Dana Farber Cancer Center and the Broad Institute in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
